It’s ‘Take your Dog to Dinner’ in Vicenza

A restaurant near Vicenza, Italy welcomes dogs coming to dinner with their owners, and it’s offering them a place at, not under, the table.

The restaurant, in nearby Albettone, will charge a €2 cover charge that includes a water bowl and clean-up after. Any food ordered is extra, of course. The owners, three brothers, say ”Simply more and more dog owners bring their pet with them. It means taking a few more precautions, which effectively makes the animal a diner to all intents and purposes. Hence the choice to charge the same cover.”

They are aware there can be problems, especially with large dogs. “Even in the last week we’ve had to discuss with a couple of customers who showed up with large dogs. It’s not conceivable that families should be sat next to a drooling Great Dane.” they told local media. But, they said, “we believe that common sense can prevail.”
