There seems to be no end to the market for new cruise ships, and no end to the quest for the title of biggest ever, as Royal Caribbean orders another of its mammoth Oasis-class ships.
The ship is the sixth in a series that began with Oasis of the Seas, with each one just slightly larger than the previous while following the same general design and features. No name has been announced yet, but the ship is due in late 2023.
The new ship, not yet named, will be built at the same shipyard in St. Nazaire, France by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, which built the other Oasis ships and has built a total of 23 for RCL. After several years of corporate reorganizations, the yard is in the process of joining Italy’s Fincantieri, another major cruise ship builder.
