A heroic effort by a pizzeria and quick thinking by an Air Canada pilot saved the day for a planeload of passengers stranded for hours by severe weather.
Last week, AC Flight 608 from Halifax to Toronto was grounded in Fredericton, New Brunswick by the storm, which left passenger stuck on the tarmac for hours, with very little to eat beyond airline snacks. From the cockpit, the pilot searched and found Minglers Restaurant and Pub, and ordered 23 pizzas.
No problem, the manager said. “We have delivered to an airport a few times to feed people, but not to a plane. I told him, ‘No, that’s not a problem,’ because … we complete (large) orders like that on a basic day.” In an hour and 15 minutes the order arrived, and the crew passed slices out to all.
