Alarm went off early for Swedish bears

A mild winter has cost some Swedish brown bears their beauty sleep; most of them have woken up early from their winter hibernatation.

At Orsa Rovdjurspark in central Sweden, a 325,000 square meter nature park, the largest predator park in Europe, all but one of the bears has been up for weeks, and the park even posted a video that’s had thousands of views. You can see it HERE

Park director Johan Larson told broadcaster SVT “It has been a rather mild period and we believe that has contributed to them waking up earlier than normal.” But one bear remains resolutely indoors. “She had three cubs after Christmas. So she’s still sleeping on and off.”
