Skydive simulator: fear without parachutes

Its opeators say its an ideal way for people afraid of jumping out of planes to experience the  thrill of skydiving, but many of those people may also be afraid to be blown into the air in a vertical wind tunnel.

Spain’s first outdoor skydive simulator has opened in Campillos, in Malaga. Paying patrons are held in the air by the force of the wind. Because they are not really high in the sky, no parachutes are used; beginners can have an experienced staffer help them fly. The experience is said to be the equivalent of jumping at 24,000 feet.

Various packages are available at prices from €52 to €400 for a “pro” experience.
