When traveling, I’m always looking to study and photograph scenes that capture the local flavor, even when I’m in a moving car and sitting in the rear seat. I often enjoy these candid moments more than carefully planned or staged shots.
Here’s a few photos of scenes from rural and small town markets and shops that I snapped on my way from Colombo to the central mountains of Sri Lanka. I was sitting in the back seat and all photos were taken from that rear window. Basic simple everyday shops where the locals can purchase everything from produce to clothes, lottery tickets, fireworks, household items, and so much more.
Some photos are a little grainy, but most were taken as we were rolling by, with folks just going about their daily activities.

You don’t get produce fresher than that ! Not sure of all Fruit and Veg’s names , but they would all make a good curry pot. Excellent photos with plentiful colours.
