All Aboard for nostalgia, romance and, of course, lots of PR. Princess Cruises is bringing back the cast of the long-ago series “The Love Boat” to host what is billed as a world record number of wedding-vow renewals at sea.
The event, to take place on a Valentine’s Day 2020 sailing of Regal Princess will be hosted by Gavin MacLeod, who played the Captain in the original series and Jill Whelan, who played his daughter. The original series was filmed on an earlier Princess cruiser, now retired. The TV cast served as godparents to the current Regal Princess.
The seven-night sailing from Fort Lauderdale departs on Feb. 9 and has port calls at Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and a private island.
