Aug. 14, 2019: Ladder 10/Engine 10, NYC

We have been to New York City a couple of times, but nothing is like seeing the city for the first time. We didn’t know what we wanted to see first, but knew we wanted to see everything, lol.  As it turned out the first thing we ended up seeing was the National September 11 Memorial. It was sad and I felt poetic that it was the beginning of a memorable visit to the city.

Engine 10-2After we checked out both tower memorials we decided to grab some lunch. What was on the menu, PIZZA of course   I was so excited to try that first slice in the big apple, lol. We ended up at a pizza place called Pronto Pizza. As it turned out, that first slice was delayed a few minutes as it is right next door to FDNY Ladder CO 10 / Engine CO 10 Fire House. It is very close to where the Twin Towers once stood and was also destroyed on September 11, 2001. However, it was rebuilt and was opened again in Nov. of 2003. I had no idea that this firehouse was so close. It was a surprise moment that I was not expecting, but meant a lot. BTW, the pizza was great!
