December, 5, 2019: Lake Vyrnwy, Wales, UK

This lake is “man made” to supply drinking water to a million people in Liverpool, England 40 miles away. The valley was damned in 1881. It collects rainwater in the winter from the surrounding mountains. In the dry summer months water from the melting snow feeds into the lake to provide a constant supply. Even in times of drought when no rain has fallen for 9 months it gives a good supply. Photo taken Dec. 1, 2019 at sunrise.
