The Return to Bombay Beach, California

Bombay Beach may be a  small community but it’s really one of the most interesting places in the world.

I first went a few years ago with my son Peter and found a largely abandoned town on the polluted Salton Sea. It was once a nice resort on the Salton Sea until pollution and flooding caused most people to leave. It was a WITW on TG.

PORTMORESBY posted a few developments  about artists and hipsters discovering the community, so I decided to go back with my girlfriend Vivie on our California trip this year.

Amazing what’s being done. Art is everywhere and the community is really being appreciated. I drove down each street  while Vivie snapped the photos. Several times we got out of the car to take a closer look.  Several people were doing the same thing this time.

This is one place that is so unique it stays in your thoughts. We will definitely return if anywhere close.  One thing for sure is the community is changing fast. If you love California road trips, put Bombay Beach on your bucket list.
