You never know what you’ll find at the library. This was the most unusual so far, on a beautiful warm February morning in Nevada City, California.
The Henry J. was manufactured from 1950 to 1954 by the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation in Willow Run, Michigan. It was Henry J. Kaiser’s design for a modestly priced car for working people, the first American compact car.
I remember the words, Kaiser-Frazer, spoken by my father, if not a memory of the car itself. This one is a real work of art, the sculptural lines enhanced by an immaculate restoration with 2-tone paint job, cream-colored inserts matching the wheels, just lovely.

A most beautiful car. I’m not sure I’ve ever see a Henry J before. If I did it was a long long time ago. So far that reason, a special treat for me.
