There is a wide range of different cities throughout Europe, each with their own unique sights, sounds and experiences to be had. But which among them are the most popular, and with perhaps the most going on within them? For more information, check out this short guide to the area, detailing three of the biggest European cities by population.
Moscow
With a population of over 11 million people, Russia’s cosmopolitan capital is easily one of the largest cities in Europe, and the world. Known for its historic architecture with dome-like designs, the city also has one of the largest urban economies in the world, and is also the 9th most expensive city in the world. Some of the best options for Tourism in the city include a visit to Red Square, the State Historical Museum, and even Lenin’s Mausoleum.
For a more relaxed and inexpensive day out, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a day in Moscow’s 300 acres Gorky Park could be a good choice. Admission is free, and depending on the time of year that you visit, there will be a range of different activities on offer.
London
The capital of the UK and home to one of the most culturally impactful communities again in the entire world, London has pretty much everything you could ask for, so much so that it is night-on-impossible to experience everything it has to offer in one go. Our best suggestion is that you plan ahead for a trip for this one, although you couldn’t go wrong with getting on an open-top bus tour of the city and getting off when you see something that piques your interest.
If you fancy a holiday that’s a little bit different from the traditional London trip, there are a bunch of other cities in the UK that offer something wildly different and are worth exploring. Liverpool and Manchester, for example, the northern neighbouring towns, are experiencing tons of growth and excitement at the moment, which of course means great things for tourism. Liverpool, in particular, is regarded by RWinvest in their guide to the area as one of the best places to invest due to its massive amounts of growth and regeneration. With two world-renowned football clubs in its vicinity, few cities rival it if you’re a fan of that sport.
Paris
The city is known as the ‘city of love’ and the home to the iconic Eiffel Tower, Paris is another bustling slice of city life, perfect for a weekend romantic getaway or a minibreak. Much like many of the other cities in this list, the underground train systems are quite extensive, so you can get around pretty easily, although you’ll also see your fair share of people riding on scooters and bicycles, too. If you aren’t afraid of heights and want to overlook the city from the ultimate vantage point, we suggest booking tickets to go up the Eiffel tower in advance, or alternatively, you can organise day trips to the nearby Disneyland if you want a special experience with your family.
Paris is also known as the fashion capital by many, and so if you want to do a bit of shopping while you’re there, then a good place to visit would be the Champs-Elysees street. Ending at the iconic Arc Triumph, the 1.2-mile long street features many flagship stores for the brands you’ll be familiar with, and there are also a ton of different authentic bars, restaurants and cafés along the strip too if you need to recharge. Just be careful that you don’t get caught paying extortionate prices in these spots, as being well-treaded areas they can get a bit pricey. As with most other cities, don’t be afraid to veer off the beaten path and explore a little bit, as you might find a hidden gem of a restaurant.
