With much of the world locked down at home, and travel little more than a memory in many places, museums, travel promoters and more are pushing out resources to keep travelers occupied at home—and fired up to travel again when they can.
USA Today has posted a list of ten live cams that allow viewers to watch giraffes, eagles, pandas and even bears fishing for dinner in whitewater. Walruses, jellyfish and puppies are included as well.
Viking River Cruises, which has an extensive variety of location videos it uses on its ships is making them available, inviting passengers to join a ‘virtual tour.’ It’s also sending its customers and potential customers links to other resources, including museum tours and more available on Google Arts and Culture.
If you’re a fan of virtual reality, the Washington Post has a list of twelve historic sites, including major museums, that are offering VR tours. But if outdoors is your thing, you have other choices, including a stunning drone tour of Switzerland’s Lauterbrunnen area, available as a YouTube video. It’s beautiful, and it’s only one of many available there.
One more for the list: Most of the thrill and other rides of Disney parks are available on YouTube. In some cases, even those familiar with the rides will find something new, because some of the videos are from Disney parks around the world.
