St Lawrence Anglican Church, Bouctouche, New Brunswick

St. Lawrence Anglican Church was built in 1865 on the south bank of the Bouctouche River. It was built in Gothic Revival style and was built to principles of Fredericton’s first Anglican bishop, John Medley. The cemetery in the back reveals that there was once an Anglophone presence in Bouctouche.

One unique thing about the church is the bell on the turret. It comes from the S.S. Helena, a British ship from the 18th century. The bell also was on an American ship during the 19th century and eventually made its way to St. Lawrence Anglican Church in the early 1900’s.
