Our group, after an early morning departure from San Jose en route to Tortuguero National Park, stopped for breakfast in Guapiles. The place was a tourist-oriented facility that offered a free tour of their butterfly garden as a way to entice tourists to stop by.
The displays started with examples of butterflies during their various stages of development, including as caterpillars and pupa.
Unfortunately most of the butterflies in the garden were far away, on the canopy of the structure. Still, I was able to photograph a few.
We had a chance to see our first golden-silk orbweaver spider. This large lovely specimen was a female; males are much smaller and much less colorful.
The garden also had a nice assortment of tropical flora, some of the blossoms being quite lovely.
Your first tropical flora photo is incredible!
