“Premium Cabin” nuts in online sale

The premium class nuts that the rest of us don’t get to nibble on American Airlines flights are now available to whoever wants them, without a flight.

GNS Foods of Arlington, Texas was caught nut-handed by the pandemic-driven drop in air traffic, which put a crimp in their sales to American Airlines, which buys two specialty mixes from the company, normally at a rate of about 6,000 tons of nuts a year.

The shutdown left the company, which also packs nuts for Walmart and other stores, with 43 tons of AA’s signature mix, which they’re selling in 1.25-pound bags, minimum two per order, on their website and a Texas factory store. They’re going for $25.10 a 2-pack, which is about $10 a pound.

The two mixes are labeled as ‘First Class Nuts,’ and come in regular and Aloha varieties; the latter includes ‘pina colada pecans’ and dried pineapple.
