The man responsible for promoting stay-in-Ireland vacations for the rest of the Irish public has been forced to resign after getting caught out taking a vacation in Italy.
Fáilte Ireland Martin Cawley was in charge of a major push for domestic breaks, which the government has supported with a tax rebate to encourage people to stay in Ireland. A newspaper, the Irish Independent, revealed his vacation.
The Tourism Minister called him and asked for his resignation, which she accepted, while praising him for his past work in the job.
