Dutch town invaded by escaping horses

No one was planning a rodeo in Weesp, Noord Holland last week, but the ‘Hold your horses!’ message apparently didn’t filter down to the barn as 45 horses headed downtown for an afternoon’s frolic.

The horses, belonging to a riding school that had accidentally left a gate open so that when a staff member assigned to get them from a meadow to the barn wasn’t there, the horses set off on a gallop into town, led by horses named Star and Casque.

The school’s owner still isn’t sure which other horses took part in the escape, because after about five minutes of galloping around town streets, the horses turned around and galloped home. If they really want to know who took part, they can probably tell from the video below. But perhaps they’d be better off checking to see whether the horses are in before locking the barn door.
