Solvang is a small city known for its attempted re-creation of a Danish village. We’d often stop here when traveling between our home in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay area. Besides some obvious landmark buildings, like this windmill….
Solvang is know for its Danish food, including pastries. There are some museums in town, including a vintage motorcycle museum that I’d love to visit someday.
The town is surrounded by lovely farmland which increasingly has turned to the production of grapes. The Santa Ynez valley has developed a reputation as a fine wine-growing region and there are many wine-tasting shops.
Always made a fun day trip. Great drive too passing some beautiful horse farms. The Reagan Ranch is about 45 minutes away.
