Royal Copenhagen opened its first store in 1780. Back then the company was called the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufactory, founded in 1775, and originally had ties to the Danish royal family. Their fine products (china, figurines, gift items) and elegant retail displays became a popular Copenhagen tourist attraction. Over the years Royal Copenhagen shops have opened in London, Paris, New York, Japan and Korea.
You can find Royal Copenhagen’s Flagship Store in the heart of Copenhagen. The three-story Renaissance house dates back to 1616 and Royal Copenhagen has occupied it since 1911.
I was fascinated by the interesting rain gutters on the outside of the historic storefront.
