The Town of Caraquet developed their beach area around a Coast Guard rear range tower that was built in 1978.
The tower was a basic steel skeleton, but Caraquet got permission to ‘wrap’ the tower in an accurate representation of an historic range tower. The work was finished in 1991.
The town is responsible for the wooden shell and the Coast Guard for the navigation equipment inside.
On this cold spring day, an abandoned cat followed us for our walk. A family asked us if they could take it home and were excited to have a new household member. The very impressive cat walked besides us the whole length of the beach and back.
