Thailand, which has managed to keep its Covid infection rates very low and has largely cut itself off from tourism for months, is now considering allowing tested visitors, but requiring them to wear digital wristbands that will take their temperature and other data and report it to government health officials.
The device is also said to allow tourists to ask directions if they become lost.
Visitors from ‘low-risk’ countries have been able to buy special visas to travel, but numbers have been limited. They are also required to show negative PCR tests for Covid and to carry about $100,000 worth of insurance.
