Australia’s Little National hotel brand may have trumped the micro-hotel competition for tiny rooms that provide just enough space to sleep for the night—what’s sometimes called ‘a bed in a box.’
The 17-square-meter rooms, which the company likes to describe as ‘cool’ and ‘cozy,’ come with a custom-fitted king-size bed that has charging ports, a wall TV, lighting options and yes, its own micro bathroom. A new one has just opened above Sydney’s underground Wynyard commuter station, the company’s first expansion there from its Canberra origins.
Visitors renting the 230 rooms use a contactless system to check in. While the space in the individual rooms is tiny, on the top floor, there are sizable communal spaces, including a library, workspace, bar and lounge.
