Last year we did a staycation and spent a week at the Hyatt Place here in Boulder, Colorado. While there we were able to do something that we hadn’t done since we lived her in CO. We walked up and down the Pearl Street Mall. It was nice to be out and about, but the most fun was watching all the street performers.
We walked around a checked out some of the stores for a few, but it was almost lunch time so we stopped and had lunch at Past Jays. It was great. We had tried the location in Moab, but not the one here in Boulder. We both had their gnocchi and it was amazing. I highly suggest trying it sometime.
Speaking of kids, there were a couple of things they really enjoyed. One of the first things we saw was a person dressed up like dog, barking and rolling over for treats (money). It was cute and the kids got a kick out of throwing change in his dog bowl.
The second act that the kids really liked was a person playing music with an accordion. There we only two or three when he started playing, but there were at least a couple dozen by the time he was finished. It was great seeing the kids getting into his music and dancing around.
Besides all the performers we saw a few artist painting and talking to people as they walked by. There were also a lot of statues and we had to take one if front of the elk. Seemed like the thing to do, lol.
We had a interesting afternoon on the Pearl Street Mall and look forward to going again in the near future. It’s just a short ride on RTD. Which I suggest since parking can be a nightmare in the area. Hope to see it all decked out for Christmas some year (obviously not this year). When we do, I will come back and share some more pictures.
A nice post that brings back good memories. We visited Boulder often when my son was a graduate student at UC Boulder, and Pearl Street was always on our list of places to visit and go for dinner.
I lived and worked in in Boulder for a few years and you really captured the spirit of the Mall.
