Disney’s wishing well coins aid homeless

When you hear the expression that people are going to ‘drop some change’ it doesn’t usually refer to throwing coins in a wishing well or amusement park ride, but it seems that happens a lot at Disney World, and the park donates the coins it collects to area charities.

The most recent collection, about $20,000 collected from fountains, water rides and the Cinderella’s Castle wishing well, was donated to Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, an area where homelessness has been rising.

In addition to the coin drop, Disney also cooked up a Thanksgiving feast for 650 of the Coalition’s clients, including 250 pounds of turkey, 60 gallons of gravy and cranberries, 300 pounds of stuffing, potatoes and green beans, 800 rolls and 72 apple and pumpkin pies.
