For the first time in 21 months, the 737 Max is back to carrying airline passengers, with a GOL Airlines domestic flight between Sao Paolo and Porto Alegre in Brazil.
Gol, which has the largest share of Brazil’s domestic market, has seven of the planes, with 88 more on order. It expects to have all seven in the existing fleet in service before the end of the year.
In the U.S., American Airlines will be the first to restart service with the newly recertified plane, with service between Miami and New York LaGuardia starting on Dec. 29.
