Norway National Museum delayed to 2022

What will eventually be the largest art museum in Scandinavia has just had its opening postponed until sometime in 2022. Sometime, as in it will “hopefully not be too far into 2022 that we can open our doors to the public.”

That’s the less-than-optimistic assessment of the museum’s director, Karin Hindsbo, after the museum’s CEO put off the plan to open this spring, blaming the delay partly on Covid-19, but also on construction and testing issues.

His statement, reminiscent of some of the reports during the long-delayed construction of Berlin’s new airport, said that “The new National Museum is a complex construction project with strict security, temperature and climate requirements. The construction workers are finished, but some testing and problem correction is outstanding.”

For instance, he said, the security doors that were responsible for a previous delay, are now working “almost as they should.” Yes.
