Ranthambore National Park, India

India’s Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest and most renowned national parks in Northern India. Best known as a tiger reserve, there are also more than 40 other species of mammals, 320 species of birds, and more than 40 species of reptiles.

9 - 59 - 13There are less than 4,000 tigers left in the wild worldwide. The goal of visitors is to find the elusive cats. I was fortunate to see a tiger as it stalked sambar deer as well as a menagerie of colorful birds, spotted deer, swamp crocodiles, and monkeys.

The park, located about 60 miles from Jaipur, was once a famous hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Today the national park terrain draws nature lovers, conservationists, and nature photographers from around the world.9 - 159 - 419 - 559 - 16
