Barcelona’s “Montjuïc Magic Fountain” is the largest fountain of its type in the city. It was was built for the 1929 International Exhibition, as was much of the lower Montjuïc region, and is a crowd pleaser. It was modernized for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games and entertains with its displays of moving water jets in a variety of patterns, at night set to lights and music. It’s sort of like a precursor to the lovely fountain show at the Bellagio resort in Las Vegas.
The fountain operates on recycled water in order to save drinking water. It is located below the Palau Nacional and views of the city from the fountain’s terrace are terrific!
