New Brunswick Naval Center is a facility that makes and repairs boats. The Center was created from a dormant shipyard in 2014 by the Town of Caraquet and the Village of Bas-Caraquet.
The Province of New Brunswick had to bail out the shipyard and take ownership because of borrowing restrictions for needed upgrades. There has been a lot of controversy about funding of the yard and also a floating dry dock that was built there at tax payers expense and moved to Quebec by the anchor tenant.
The tenants of the Center make some unique boats, like this one, for crabbing.
