The National Automobile Museum in Reno features a diverse collection of cars. Among these are autos previously owned by celebrities, like Frank Sinatra’s Ghia and, in this case, John Wayne’s Chevy.
1953 was the first year the Corvette was manufactured and Mr. Wayne got the 53rd one off the assembly line. Mr. Wayne drove this car around Newport Beach and to the movie studios, and from the look of it drove pretty hard. I could see several cracks in its body.
The technical features of the car are summarized in the plaque positioned in front of the car.
