Iceland, famed for its geysers, volcanoes and icebergs, may now become the land of the vaccinated visitor as well. New regulations will allow visitors from the EU, EEA and Switzerland to visit without quarantine if they can show proper proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
The document standards are tough; Iceland has used very strict regulation to keep its Covid rates very low. Only vaccines approved by the EU Medicines Agency are accepted (so far, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines) and proof of vaccination, digital or paper must come from official sources and be in Icelandic, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish or English, and must show details of manufacturer and batch lot.
Any other visitors will remain subject to the existing rules: Test on arrival, quarantine, and then a new test.
Other countries that have announced or may soon announce exemptions for travelers who have already been vaccinated include the Seychelles, Romania and Cyprus. Thailand has announced it will join the group in late 2021.
