The Venetian Towers (Torres Venecianes) are a pair of towers at the base of Montjuic mountain, not far from the National Art Museum of Catalonia. There is one tower on either side of the street, each 47 m tall, which are modeled after the Campanile in Venice’s St Mark’s Square (although these are not as tall or broad as the original).
The towers were completed in 1929 as part of the city’s construction in preparation for that year’s Barcelona International Exposition. The towers were remodeled and improved a few years back and usually are not open to visitors.
The towers are close to the city’s old bull-fighting arena, seen above, now remodeled as a shopping mall.
