If ‘Airstream’ makes you think of a streamlined mini-trailer on the open road and ‘camping’ makes you think of a tent in the woods, the combination may not be your thing, but a company called Autocamp thinks they belong together, and it’s expanding its network of trailer-based ‘glamping’ sites.
The company’s luxury outdoor concept includes custom-built 31-foot Airstream trailers, cabins, tents and even suites in the woods; each site also has a ‘clubhouse’ for group activities along with pools, hot tubs and general stores. It claims that its sites are “designed with personal space in mind and offer a naturally safe and socially distant experience.”
Two new sites are launching this year, one on Cape Cod in the spring, and one near Joshua Tree National Park in California, and two next year at Zion National Park and in New York’s Catskill Mountains. Existing sites are near Yosemite National Park and Russian River, California.
