A new amenity is on offer for visitors to Hyatt and Marriott hotels in Mexico and the Caribbean: A free Covid-19 test, now required for return to the U.S. The test will be available for up to two guests per room.
The offer is in response to worries by many potential visitors that they might not be able to find the right testing that would let them return home at the end of their trip. Marriott also has another wrinkle to the offer: If the test is positive and requires a longer stay, there’s a discount of up to 50% on the extended stay.
Travelers are being advised, though, to check in advance to make sure the program has come on line at their destination hotel. And yes, it’s in place at the Cancun Ritz-Carlton, where Senator Ted Cruz barely had time to get a test and return home.
