Air France safety vid is travel ad, too

While most airline safety videos try to get you to stay in your seat, a new one used by Air France seems designed to get you off the plane to take a tour of France. I’m not alone among travel-writers who have seen it and immediately started booking a trip!

The video starts with a pair of attractive flight attendants descending a staircase at the Opera Garnier in Paris; the woman speaks in French, the man delivers the English. In the next scene, the seatbelt diagram appears as a picture at the Louvre, along with the Mona Lisa.

Other scenes are staged at Versailles, at a fashion show, and on the Riviera. The tray table is represented by an antique desk panel; the oxygen mask demonstration has masks dropping on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower and other scenes include a contemporary art museum and a stroll along the bookstall-lined Seine.
