Herring Gull, Limehouse, London

Some of my friends and family believe I’m obsessed with birds, simply because I keep taking pictures of them. Well, I know some true birdwatchers, twitchers as it were, and there’s really no comparison.

On the other hand, there is something compelling about birds being birds, especially when perched on the head of a solemn statue. None of that here this time. Just the unusual sculpture above, and some live gulls below. The statue stands in Narrow Street, Limehouse, London, and has since 1994.
