Disney headed to Antarctica

Disney Cruise Lines voyages are still on hold, as are voyages by its competitors, but Disney is ready to head in a new direction—Antarctica—when cruising resumes, possibly as early as later this year.

The Antarctica cruises, and Galapagos trips planned for 2022, will actually operate under the Adventures by Disney umbrella, another division of the Mouse Empire that also operates upscale land tours and cruises on European rivers, using vessels operated by AmaWaterways. The Antarctic trips will follow the same pattern, using ships operated for Disney by French expedition cruise operator Ponant, with a local operator supplying a ship for the Galapagos.

Itineraries for Antarctica will start from Ushuaia, Argentina, with two days on land there, followed by a two-day crossing to Antarctica where activities will include a variety of small-boat and land-based explorations. Fares start at $12,800, no children under 10 allowed.
