United Airlines adds Colorado bus stops

United Airlines is extending its Denver routes to two Colorado cities that haven’t had scheduled air service in years, with direct bus connections to Fort Collins and Breckenridge.

Service to Breckenridge starts next week, with Fort Collins following on April 1st. Passengers will be able to head straight from the terminal to the bus; any checked bags will be transferred to the bus, too. The seamless connection makes it possible for many travelers to avoid renting a car.

United hopes to make the service even more convenient in the opposite direction. While baggage will be checked through from the bus to the airport, passengers will have to go through security screening, but Landline, the luxury bus operator partnered with United, is working on getting passengers pre-cleared before they board the bus.

The service isn’t a unique concept, of course: Sun Country Airlines partners with Landline to serve a number of Minnesota and Wisconsin destinations from its Minneapolis hub. United also has a bus connection from Newark to Allentown, PA, and is considering adding services to other hub cities.
