With Australians still forbidden to travel overseas and with even some domestic travel restrictions in place, Qantas Airways is keeping its hand in with a new idea: ‘mystery flights.’
Unlike the ‘flights to nowhere’ it ran last year, which were really ‘flights to right back here without landing,’ passengers on the mystery flights will have the opportunity for some tours or recreation on the ground followed by a flight home. The ‘mystery flight’ moniker is because they won’t know until the flight takes off where they are going.
The flights, which will depart from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, will fly to a destination within approximately two hours and include experiences on the ground such as winemaking in a premier wine region or a gourmet lunch with music on the shores of a tropical island. To be fair: they will be given clues whether to pack a snorkel or hiking boots.
