Switzerland is joining the small list of countries open to U.S. international visitors and is the first in Europe to do so, dropping the U.S. from its ‘red list,’ along with the UK and several other countries as of April 5.
The U.S. had been on the list for a year. Most other countries have also banned U.S. visitors because of the severity and spread of Covid-19 in the U.S., but lowering rates and progress with vaccination campaigns appear to have made the decision. At the same time, several new countries, including Greece and Jamaica, were added to the list.
Switzerland’s list has been based on comparison of each country’s 14-day infection rate to Switzerland’s own; countries with significantly higher rates to on the red list.
