Canada geese are more common than pigeons in North America, and this bunch seemed to enjoy having their photo taken. The setting is Lake Nutimik, Whiteshell Provincial Park in eastern Manitoba. Nutimik is a popular lake with hundreds of cottages dotting its shores. Most people just live here during the summer but a few hardy souls live along the lake during the bitterly cold winter — it gets might cold here in January when the north wind blasts across the ice.
These photos were taken in the fall as the geese were migrating southward to warmer climates. The lake provided a good stop for a rest and drink of water.
