If you ever doubted that people are anxious to resume travel consider this: two 10-day river cruises sold out in hours, even with no information on destination or itinerary, and a €67,000 round-the-world cruise sold all its tickets in under a day, the fastest sales ever.
At least Silversea’s round-the-world cruise, which doesn’t start for another 18 months, comes with information: after departing Sydney, Australia in January 2023 (yes, 2023), it will stop at 66 ports in 34 countries before docking at Fort Lauderdale, Florida 139 days later.
But for the two mystery cruises, run by Uniworld, all the information you get is the date (June 12 or September 23), that they are on European rivers but are not the same as each other or any standard Uniworld itinerary, and a packing list.
Ellen Bettridge, Uniworld CEO, says “It’s an incredible bucket list trip full of surprises for those that love the thrill of adventure; the biggest surprise being the itinerary reveal that will only happen when our guests are already on their way to the airport.” The deal includes open bar, airport transfers, gratuities and more. Compared to the round-the-world trip, it’s a steal at under €5700.
