An elephant with a penchant for midnight snacks was captured on video in what can only be called a home invasion. The elephant, Boonchuay, is a resident in Thailand’s Kaeng Krachan National Park, but has several times wandered off into nearby Chalermkiatpattana.
The homeowner was awakened by the sound of the elephant poking its head through a kitchen wall and rummaging in her cabinets and drawers, knocking pots and pans to the floor. For want of anything better to do about it, she took out her phone and filmed it.
The Park Superintendent was not surprised; it’s happened before. “They come to visit quite often. They always come when there is the local market because they can smell food,” he told local press.
