Fifteen months after they were banished from stations because of pandemic restrictions musicians and other buskers returned yesterday to the Metro in Paris.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that the unlicensed buskers who ply their trade on station platforms and trains disappeared entirely despite the rules, but it does mean that the 300 or so who are licensed by Metro operator RATP can now return to set-aside places in station mezzanines and hallways.
The official permits go back to 1997, and select up to 300 performers twice a year.
