Canceled last year by the pandemic, Smithsonian Magazine’s annual Museum Day will be back on September 18, featuring free admission to more than a thousand museums and other cultural venues, including some zoos.
Tickets will be available for download starting August 18, with a limit of one two-person ticket per email address. The list of participating museums is growing, and can be viewed at the magazine’s website. This is the event’s 17th time around.
Participants include a wide range of local and national institutions. A Smithsonian Magazine spokesperson said “Museum Day represents a national commitment to access, equity and inclusion and after a rough year and a half, we’re excited for museums to open their doors and offer these educational and cultural experiences to the public for free this Museum Day.”
