ANA: No more mags, have a digital paper!

Japan’s ANA is following the lead of other airlines around the world, including the U.S., in ditching inflight magazines and newspapers that it had been handing out. Instead, it’s offering passengers access to 30 top newspapers from around the world through its smartphone app.

The papers, along with a variety of other material, will be available for download from 24 hours before the flight to 24 hours after landing. The app also provides access to entertainment and to flight information.

ANA’s ‘customer experience’ chief told Japan Today that passengers will get more than the headlines: “The decision to offer digital versions of prominent newspapers from across the globe will cut down on waste while offering passengers additional opportunities to engage with news and perspectives offered by papers that usually are not available in paper format.”
