I’ve noticed that places where hunting is popular like to use “antlers in all of their decorating”, to paraphrase the lyrics from the Disney cartoon “Beauty and the Beast“.
We enjoyed a meal and a beer at the 49th State Brewing Co, a cozy hangout, on a cool day in late summer. The chair in the top photo caught my eye because of its unusual design, combining moose and caribou antlers and leather. It was well crafted and comfortable.
Elsewhere we spotted this light fixture framed by caribou antlers. An unusual touch.
These are but a few examples we spotted while in Alaska, but you’ll find similar creations in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and in much of Canada. I’m sure some of you have similar experiences. Why don’t you share your photos in the comments below?
