Perhaps with tongue-in-cheek (no double-entendres, please!) a popular porn site has set out to blur the distinction between porn and art by publishing a series of online guides to only the nude artworks in some of the world’s top museums.
Pornhub’s website invites viewers to “Join us as we tour the most respected institutions in western art, guiding you past all the prude paintings and going to directly to the good stuff: representations of the naked body in all its artistic glory. Because porn may not be considered art, but some art can definitely be considered porn.”
Some of the museums are not amused; a spokesperson for the Louvre told the French daily Liberation that it was “dismayed,” and the management of Florence’s Uffizi Gallery has said it may sue the site over rights to the works that are shown.
Other museums represented in the online site include the Musée d’Orsay, London’s National Gallery, the Met in New York, Madrid’s Prado museum
