There’s many unusual vehicles and life-forms traveling the roads of India. It’s hard to be surprised by anything you might spot on an Indian highway, but this particular vehicle caught my eye.
Our tour bus was stopped at a toll booth, the driver paying a fee before continuing our journey, when this skeletal truck pulls up in the next lane to pay his toll. The driver was dressed in motorcycle gear, including impact helmet. There was just a chassis, seat and a motor — nothing else.
My assumption was that the truck was being driven from its factory to the place it would be completed, but who knows? I wonder what its story was.
I found a similar truck which has a number of variants. It is a Ashok-Leyland which is used in the mining industry and other heavy industries. Guess is it used to drive inside the mines.
